Candice needed a secure, practical shelter for her growing brood of horses that would fit seamlessly into a large open yard space. The unit was installed directly on grass, along the paddock boundour doubling as an inner paddock boundary and aligning with the exisitng fencing.
We built a massive five 4m x 4m stable bay complex using our standard mesh upper panels and ply lower sections. The stables feature a flat roof with a 900mm overhang adn 100mm for rain water run off, but here’s the clever part: instead of placing the overhang on the gate side as usual, it was flipped to the opposite side to better suit the paddock layout and the customers needs.
The entire system was designed for simplicity, strength, and future expansion.
This 20-metre inline stable features five 4 × 4 m bays, each with full ply rears for containment and mesh uppers for airflow and visibility. The layout gives every horse a calm, well-ventilated space even through humid QLD summers.
Every frame uses 50 × 50 mm RHS Duragal® structural steel, welded, not bolted, for lasting rigidity and corrosion resistance. It’s strength you can trust, year after year.
A 900 mm roof overhang was reversed to the rear, shielding the ply panels from rain and suiting the yard layout. It’s a small design tweak that makes a big difference in keeping interiors dry.
The 2.5 m internal height allows hot air to rise and escape easily, improving comfort and reducing ammonia build-up. Taller walls mean cooler horses and cleaner air.
This stable went straight onto grass, bolted securely as part of the paddock boundary. The modular design doubles as fencing, creating a strong visual and physical division without a concrete slab.

Extend with a covered walkway between bays or leading to a tack room for smoother access and cleaner movement on wet days.
Swap selected panels for rear swing-through custom gates to connect back paddocks and streamline daily rotation between yards.
Attach an additional bay for feed storage, wash-down space, or a sheltered work area, all modular and ready to integrate.
For high-traffic areas, adding a compacted base improves drainage, footing, and long-term wear without altering the structure.
