Build It Your Way

4 Horse Modular Stable System

  • 20m x 4m (80mยฒ)

Modular Stable Complex Designed to Grow With the Property

The owners wanted a practical stable system that would work immediately for their horses and smaller livestock without limiting future expansion. Rather than building more than they needed, they started with four connected 4m ร— 4m bays that could be extended as the property developed.

Installed directly onto prepared grass, the project avoided the cost and disruption of a concrete slab while still providing a strong, permanent working stable. The modular layout means additional bays, a tack room or feed storage can all be added later using the same structural system rather than replacing what has already been built.

A Stable Layout That Fits the Way the Property Operates

This wasn’t designed as four separate shelters. It functions as one connected stable complex, making it easier to manage multiple horses while leaving room for different livestock when required.

  • Four connected 4m ร— 4m bays arranged in a continuous layout.
  • Enough space for horses while remaining flexible for mixed livestock.
  • A straight layout that simplifies feeding, cleaning and everyday access.
  • Designed so future additions follow the existing roofline and structure.

All 4 Bays Built Around the Existing Site

The property already had suitable ground, so there was little benefit in extensive earthworks or pouring concrete before the owners were ready.

Instead, the stable was installed on prepared grass, allowing the project to be completed quickly while keeping future options open.

  • Installed directly onto prepared ground.
  • Minimal disturbance to the surrounding paddock.
  • Suitable for owners wanting a practical solution before committing to permanent foundations.

A Comfortable Environment for Everyday Horse Care and Agistment

The finished stable balances protection and ventilation without making the bays feel enclosed.

  • Mesh upper panels allow air to move freely through the stable.
  • Full ply kickboards provide shelter and impact protection.
  • The 2.5m roof height helps warm air escape naturally during Queensland summers.
  • Open sightlines make daily handling easier while keeping horses safely separated.

Small Breeding or Spelling Hub

Perfect for breeders or spelling properties needing four safe, separate boxes for mares, weanlings, or horses on rest.
Mesh tops allow airflow and supervision while maintaining separation, and the 4 ร— 4 m footprint gives room for longer stays or rehab.
When numbers grow, the same line extends to six or eight bays without structural rework.

Mixed-Species or Multi-Use Rural Blocks

Ideal for owners managing horses, ponies, donkeys, or goats in one facility. Each bay can be fitted differently inside while sharing the same low-maintenance, steel-framed backbone.
The 2.5 m height, ply panels, and mesh tops handle kicks, chewing, and ventilation, without needing a full custom barn build.

Trainer or Small Agistment Line

Compact yet efficient, this setup gives trainers or small agistment operators four individual stables for higher-value horses.
The straight 16 m run keeps feeding, rugging, and checks quick along one face, while the modular layout leaves space for a future tack or feed bay at either end.

Step-Up for Growing Hobby Owners

A natural upgrade from shelters to your first โ€œproperโ€ stable line.
Built straight onto grass or a simple base now, and ready for future add-ons, from slabs and yards to a second line opposite for a true centre-aisle layout.
Itโ€™s a start-small, scale-smart approach that keeps ownership practical and future-proof.

Add comfort, control, and polish, without rebuilding from scratch.

One of the biggest advantages of the 4-bay modular line is how easily it adapts. Each structure is a framework you can grow, refine, and tailor to the way you actually use your property.
Upgrades like these prove how modular systems evolve over time. Each improvement builds on the original frame, extending the stableโ€™s lifespan and comfort without redesigning from scratch. Itโ€™s the practical path to long-term ownership, future-ready from day one.

Tack or Feed Room Extension

Add a matching 4 ร— 4 m bay at one end to create a dedicated tack or feed room. Lockable doors, shelving, and rodent-proof bins keep gear organised and close at hand, cutting daily setup time and clutter.

Front-Mounted Feed Hatches or Hay Drops

Install rotating feed hatches or hay doors on stall fronts. Feed from the aisle without entering each bay, speeding up routines and reducing stress for handlers and horses alike.

Dutch Doors & Anti-Rear Sliders

Upgrade to top-opening Dutch doors for ventilation and natural light while keeping the lower gate secure. Anti-rear sliders prevent injury or escape in high-energy or rehab bays, a small change that adds real peace of mind.

Powder-Coated Frames & Roof Extensions

Choose matte black or custom powder-coat colours to match your homestead or shed. Add Colourbond roof extensions for a seamless visual tie-in and improved weather protection.

Every Guerrilla Steel project follows a simple principle: build once, build right. The process focuses on practical planning, precision manufacturing, and long-term durability so the stable becomes a lasting assetโ€”whether you plan to use it as a permanent structure or relocate and reconfigure the modular panels later.

  1. Design & Planning

The process begins with choosing the right configuration for your property, horses, and daily workflow. Stable size, layout, ventilation, and site access are considered so the structure works with your land and long-term plans.

  2. Precision Manufacturing

Each stable is fabricated in the Guerrilla Steel workshop using Australian RHS steel framing, welded panels, and durable roofing materials. Manufacturing in a controlled environment ensures consistency, strength, and long service life.

  3. Delivery & Installation

Modular panels are delivered ready for assembly. Many customers install the system themselves using the DIY friendly flat-pack design, while others choose professional installation. Either way, the modular system keeps the build straightforward and predictable.

  4. Ownership & Maintenance

Once installed, the stable becomes part of the propertyโ€™s working infrastructure. Routine checks, cleaning, and occasional maintenance keep the structure performing for decades while protecting the horses inside.
