Build It Your Way

Figtree Thoroughbreds – Mare & Foal Recovery Bays

  • 10m x 4m (40m²)

A Mare and Foal Stable Ready for Use the Same Day

Figtree Thoroughbreds needed additional mare and foal accommodation without disrupting their daily routine. The priority was straightforward: install a safe, practical stable that could be operational immediately.

We delivered two adjoining 4m × 5m stable bays onto a prepared road base, completing the entire installation in around seven hours. By using fully welded modular panels, the stables were ready for horses the same day, allowing the property to continue operating without lengthy construction or major site disruption.

A Stable Layout Designed for Mares, Foals and Recovery

These larger bays were designed to provide more than standard accommodation. The extra depth creates a flexible space that can support foaling, veterinary care or horses requiring additional supervision.

  • Two adjoining 4m × 5m horse stable bays.
  • Extra internal space for mares with foals or horses recovering from injury.
  • Open layout allows safer handling and easier movement around the horse.
  • Suitable for breeding properties or owners wanting more versatile stable space.

Built Around Everyday Horse Handling

Small design details can make a noticeable difference when horses are moving between paddocks, yards and stables throughout the day.

  • Dual swing gates provide access from both the yard and paddock.
  • Multiple entry points simplify feeding, cleaning and horse movement.
  • Wide openings improve access for equipment and veterinary care.
  • A practical layout suited to busy breeding and training properties.

A Comfortable Stable Environment for Queensland Conditions

The finished stable combines weather protection with the airflow needed for horses spending extended periods indoors.

  • Mesh upper panels maintain natural ventilation and clear visibility.
  • Full ply kickboards provide shelter and impact protection.
  • The pitched roof and generous front overhang help keep stable entrances dry during heavy rain.
  • A 2.5m roof height encourages warm air to rise naturally, improving comfort through Queensland summers.

Handlers needing fast in-out access for busy routines.

Dual gates let you lead horses straight to/from paddocks without swinging around the structure, essential for training, farriers or multiple daily moves.

Compact blocks where space around stables stays tight.

Front/rear entry maximises every square metre, ideal when your yard layout pins the stable against fences or sheds, no backtracking needed.

Owners wanting all-weather protection with easy cleaning.

Overhangs and gates allow hosing/mucking from outside, choose this when horses need secure shelter but you hate wet gear or mud tracking indoors.

Add matching rear tack and nook.

Add Rear Roof Overhang, and weld a narrow lockable panel to the back wall for bridles/feed. Uses dead space for gear storage, keeps it dry, and accesses via the rear.

Extend pitched roof forward into a 3 m groom bay.

Bolt on frame extension with mesh sides, creates covered wash/tie area upfront, shares the existing pitch for seamless rain protection.

Upgrade to auto-latching yoke gates on both ends.

Swap for half-height yokes with self-close, enhances control for solo handling, matches the dual-access flow for even smoother twice-the-entry efficiency.

Every Guerrilla Steel project follows a simple principle: build once, build right. The process focuses on practical planning, precision manufacturing, and long-term durability so the stable becomes a lasting asset—whether you plan to use it as a permanent structure or relocate and reconfigure the modular panels later.

  1. Design & Planning

The process begins with choosing the right configuration for your property, horses, and daily workflow. Stable size, layout, ventilation, and site access are considered so the structure works with your land and long-term plans.

  2. Precision Manufacturing

Each stable is fabricated in the Guerrilla Steel workshop using Australian RHS steel framing, welded panels, and durable roofing materials. Manufacturing in a controlled environment ensures consistency, strength, and long service life.

  3. Delivery & Installation

Modular panels are delivered ready for assembly. Many customers install the system themselves using the DIY friendly flat-pack design, while others choose professional installation. Either way, the modular system keeps the build straightforward and predictable.

  4. Ownership & Maintenance

Once installed, the stable becomes part of the property’s working infrastructure. Routine checks, cleaning, and occasional maintenance keep the structure performing for decades while protecting the horses inside.
