DIY Single Bay Horse Stable

This project features a compact single bay 4×4 metre horse stable installed in Nerang on the Gold Coast. The owner wanted a simple but strong shelter for their horse without needing a large stable block or complex construction.

Using the Guerilla Steel modular stable system, the customer was able to install a DIY stable that provides solid protection, good airflow, and a clean layout suitable for everyday horse care. The galvanised steel frame and panel design create a durable structure designed to handle real paddock conditions.

With mesh upper panels and solid lower kick panels, the stable gives horses visibility and airflow while maintaining strength where it matters most. The result is a practical paddock stable that works well for private horse owners who need a reliable shelter without overbuilding their setup.

Simple DIY Installation

The modular design allows owners to assemble the stable without specialised construction skills.

  • Paddock Shelter Use – Ideal for properties that need a single safe shelter rather than a full stable block. Provides protection from sun and weather while allowing airflow and visibility.
  • Small Acreage Properties – Works well on hobby farms and lifestyle blocks – where you might want a setup you can expand as you get more horses
  • DIY or First Stable Setup – A practical starting point for horse owners setting up their first paddock stable or wanting to DIY the build.

  • Add Additional Stable Bays – The modular design allows more bays to be added later if the property grows.
  • Day Yard Extensions – Adding day yards can create a more complete horse management area.
  • Feed or Tack Storage – A small adjoining storage bay can help organise feed or equipment.
  • Stable Row Expansion – Multiple single bays can be connected to create a larger stable block.

Every Guerrilla Steel project follows a simple principle: build once, build right. The process focuses on practical planning, precision manufacturing, and long-term durability so the stable becomes a lasting asset—whether you plan to use it as a permanent structure or relocate and reconfigure the modular panels later.

  1. Design & Planning

The process begins with choosing the right configuration for your property, horses, and daily workflow. Stable size, layout, ventilation, and site access are considered so the structure works with your land and long-term plans.

  2. Precision Manufacturing

Each stable is fabricated in the Guerrilla Steel workshop using Australian RHS steel framing, welded panels, and durable roofing materials. Manufacturing in a controlled environment ensures consistency, strength, and long service life.

  3. Delivery & Installation

Modular panels are delivered ready for assembly. Many customers install the system themselves using the DIY friendly flat-pack design, while others choose professional installation. Either way, the modular system keeps the build straightforward and predictable.

  4. Ownership & Maintenance

Once installed, the stable becomes part of the property’s working infrastructure. Routine checks, cleaning, and occasional maintenance keep the structure performing for decades while protecting the horses inside.
