  • 3 Bay Stable - Custom Roof

3 Bay Stable – Custom Roof

The client needed a simple way to add three horse stables on a sloping hinterland property without committing to a full shed build.

They already had a shipping container on site for storage, but it sat exposed to weather and wasn’t integrated into the horse area. At the same time, they needed practical shelter for a few horses while keeping the layout simple and cost-effective.

The solution was a 3-bay modular stable block with a custom extended roof, designed to connect the stables and container under one structure. This protects the container, provides shade and shelter for the horse bays, and creates a compact working area for feeding, gear storage and daily horse management.

A key feature of this project is the custom roof extension that integrates the stable bays with the existing container. This approach creates a weather-protected working zone without needing a full enclosed shed structure. Other highlights include:

    • Container integration via the extended roofing creates a sheltered working area between the stables and the container, providing a covered walkway and convenient access to secure tack or feed storage.
    • The combined roof area covers approximately 62 m², protecting both the stable bays and container from sun and rain while creating a practical handling and feeding space.
    • Integrating the container under the extended roof also protects stored feed, tack and equipment while keeping everything located in one practical working area
    • The raised roof design at the front and rear increases natural airflow on all sides, helping keep the bays cooler in warmer climates while still providing shade and rain protection.
    • Modular panel system allowing transport, relocation or future expansion

The result is a compact and highly practical stable area where horses, feed and equipment are all located together.
