DIY Horse Stable Kit

A first-time couple near Guyra built their own 4m × 4m Guerilla Steel horse stable using a prefabricated DIY kit, avoiding concrete with a compacted road base pad. Numbered components and optional phone support made assembly stress-free, resulting in a durable, weatherproof, expandable stable suited to Australian rural conditions.

    ★★★★★

Exceptionally built and next level customer service. I contacted Guerilla Steel after terrible service from two other stable manufacturers and the team literally built the stable to the exact requirements I needed. We live very high up and get strong winds sideways rain and snow so I needed a super strong and heavy duty stable that wasn’t going to be blown away or fold in and to make sure our fur babies were sheltered from the harsh elements! We decided to DIY install ourselves, we were supplied with easy to read instructions but also a phone number to call if we needed anything extra! The install was literally so easy myself (very small weak human and my husband were able to put the whole thing together easily)Everything had been thought out and the extra touches Guerilla Steel supplied were the icing on the cake.Gal steel touch up paint and black paint to touch up and panels were required.. All screws bolts etc.We used the left over black paint to paint the steel mesh black instead of silver so we can see inside the stable from the house (cool tip we learnt from building chicken coops!)We will definitely buy again!Don’t waste your time with other people - we live inland NSW - 6 hours from the manufacturer and even though we are not just round the corner it was so much better and an easier process than dealing with local companies. Thank you GS!

A DIY Horse Stable Kit That First-Time Owners Can Build With Confidence

Jess and her husband wanted a strong, practical stable they could put together themselves without hiring builders or pouring a concrete slab. Their property near Guyra already had the right location picked out, so they prepared a compacted road base pad with a slight fall for drainage before delivery.

The result was a single 4m × 4m custom stable with full ply walls, mesh upper panels and a 2.5m roof height. Everything arrived prefabricated and ready to assemble.

Although it was their first time building a stable, the numbered components and straightforward instructions meant the job came together with very little stress. Phone support was available if they needed it, but the DIY installation was simple enough that it stayed exactly that — a backup rather than a necessity.

    Built for DIY

There’s often a trade-off between an easy-to-build kit and a strong finished structure. This project shows you don’t have to compromise. Once assembled, the stable delivers the same heavy-duty construction found across the Guerilla Steel range.

    • Fully welded Australian steel frame panels reduce assembly time while creating a rigid finished structure.
    • Two people can comfortably assemble the stable using common tools.
    • Clear numbered components make it easy to work through the build one panel at a time.
    • Optional phone support gives first-time installers confidence without taking over the project.

A Simple compacted road base pad Foundation

Instead of pouring concrete, the owners prepared a compacted road base pad, keeping the project affordable while creating a practical base for the stable. That preparation also helps the stable perform long after installation.

    • The raised pad encourages rainwater to drain away from the stable.
    • Compacted road base creates a firm, level surface for installation.
    • No concrete slab was required for this property.
    • The approach suits many rural blocks where flexibility and drainage matter more than permanent foundations.

Designed to Keep Horses Comfortable Through Every Season

The combination of solid lower walls and open mesh upper panels gives horses protection from the weather without closing the stable in. It’s a simple design, but one that’s well suited to Australian conditions.

    • Full ply kickboards help block wind and driving rain.
    • Heavy-duty mesh above the walls keeps fresh air moving through the stable.
    • The 2.5m roof height allows warm air to escape naturally.
    • Open visibility helps horses stay aware of their surroundings while remaining safely enclosed.

A Compact Stable That Can Grow With Your Property

This single-bay stable met the owners’ immediate needs, but it also leaves room for future expansion if their property changes. The modular design means today’s investment doesn’t lock you into tomorrow’s layout.

    • 4m × 4m internal stable bay.
    • Fully welded galvanised steel frame.
    • Full ply kickboards with mesh upper panels.
    • Flat roof with 2.5m clearance.
    • Compatible with future bays, shelters and custom additions.
